When  to Book A Newborn Session and LOCation:

Newborn baby portraits are best done within the first two weeks and it is best to reserve your session while you are still pregnant. When you book I'll put your due date on my calendar. As soon as your baby is born, contact me within 48 hours and we will schedule a session within the first two weeks.

That being said please do not hesitate to contact me if your baby is already born and/or is already past the "ideal" window of age. I have extensive experience working with babies past 2 weeks. While older newborns may not be as curly or sleepy (although some of my best sleepers are older newborns!), we can still capture gorgeous photographs of your baby.

Newborn sessions are held on weekday mornings in my studio in the Oceanside/Carlsbad center. I will travel to your home for a life style session, which you can examples of HERE

Props/Outfits:

I supply ALL the props needed for your newborn's session- seriously it is a bit of an obsession. I have a wide variety of wraps, bonnets, headbands, outfits, baskets, etc. that I choose carefully.  Once you book your session, I will send you an information packet on what to expect as well as a survey to customize your session (what colors and props you prefer, etc).

Newborn Photography Sessions are 2-4 hours in length. We keep it around 80-85 degrees to ensure baby's comfort so dress in layers! During the session we concentrate on safe and gentle posing that focus on the simple beauty of your brand new baby. Baby's safety and comfort in the number one priority. I make sure to listen to each baby and honor their individual needs. They are the boss of the session!

Parental comfort is very important to me too. You are never more then an arms length away from your baby at all times. I have studied newborn safety and will only do poses I have complete confidence in working. That being said, I encourage parents to say anything if they are even feeling the slightest bit of discomfort. This is YOUR baby and you have the final say in everything.

I STRONGLY encourage the use of a pacifier during the session. In my experience, a pacifier greatly helps the baby soothe and settle into poses. I always keep (brand new and unused) pacifiers on me. That being said, this is your baby and I completely respect your decision on pacifier usage. We will concentrate on other soothing techniques if you do not want your baby to use one.

After the session:

Once your newborn session is complete, I will upload your images in a proofing gallery for you to choose the photos you wish for me to edit and place in your final gallery. My turn around time is about 2 to 4 weeks. If you need your photos sooner, please let me know before you book your session to see if I can accommodate your request. Once I am done editing, I will upload your images to an online gallery. You will receive an email with your download pin. Please make sure to download your images as a zip file and not to screen shot to preserve the quality. You may choose to print your photos as you wish and/or order prints and products through me.
